Let's get you on your way!
I've gathered these essential Ontario marriage resources to make your planning process a little easier.
-
-
Before you get married, you need a valid Ontario marriage licence. A marriage licence is valid for three months from the date it was issued.
-
You can get your marriage licence at any municipal office in Ontario. It does not have to be the same city where you plan to get married.
-
The cost for a marriage licence varies by municipality. Look around! You could save a bit of money.
-
All Licensed Officiants are responsible for mailing the completed Marriage Licence to the Office of the Registrar General within 48 hrs of your wedding.
-
-
Marriage Certificate: To receive your official Marriage Certificate, you must apply for it. If you do not apply for a Marriage Certificate, you will not receive one. Wait approximately 12 weeks before applying, as it can take that long for the government to process the marriage licence and register your marriage. You can easily apply online or by mail.
